Food Markets Walking Tour

You will be picked up at the lobby of your hotel in Casco Viejo by your guide for a walking tour through the Santa Ana district. The experience begins in the historic Cafe Coca Cola, where you will sample some traditional Panamanian breakfast while learning about the history of Panama’s oldest cafe. After late breakfast, you will continue to Avenida Central, the local shopping avenue. You will walk through the famous Salsipuedes street, passing by vendors that offer a variety of food as well as local handicrafts such as the tembleques, which are unique handmade headpieces that are worn as part of the Panamanian folklore dress, the pollera. Your guide will take you through Chinatown, where you will also have the opportunity to try some of the most popular Panamanian snacks. Once you arrive at the farmers market, you will be able to see a great variety of local and seasonal fruits and vegetables. You will finish the tour with a visit to the fish market, where you can try a traditional fresh ceviche and an ice-cold Panamanian beer. Your guide will walk you back to your hotel in Casco Viejo after the tour.
